1 Program with Leonard Jernigan
Leonard Jernigan grew up in Chapel Hill, N.C. He is a graduate of Deerfield Academy, in Deerfield, Massachusetts; the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and North Carolina Central University School of Law; he is the author of North Carolina Workers' Compensation - Law and Practice (first published in 1988 and now in its 4th Edition); he is an adjunct law professor at N.C. Central University School of Law, and is certified as a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law by the N.C. State Bar.

He is a past President and one of the founding lawyers of WILG (Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group); a member of the Workers’ Compensation Panel of Attorneys for the National Football League Players’ Association, The National Hockey League Players’ Association and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association. He is a former chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of AAJ (American Association of Justice) and a former Section Chair for the North Carolina Bar Association; He has also been selected as a member of the ABA’s College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers.

He practices with the Jernigan Law Firm in Raleigh, N.C. with two other lawyers and restricts his practice to workers’ compensation and civil litigation, including jury trials. He has been following the fraud issue in workers’ compensation since 1996 and publishes a top ten list of fraud cases each year. He is married and has two daughters, one of whom is a lawyer in Raleigh. His main hobby right now is managing a bee hive near his house.
